Civic agency ties up with Gramvaani for delivering sanitation services trough IVR and Facebook
GN Bureau | New Delhi | March 28 2011
Come Wednesday, Delhites can call on a MCD hotline to register complaints regarding overflowing garbage dumps in their localities. The civic agency is collaborating with Gramvaani – a community media enterprise based out of IIT-Delhi – to use interactive voice response system (IVRS) for ensuring immediate action on garbage collection.
The IVRS will be integrated with MCD’s Facebook page (being used for the delivery of the same service) to retain transparency while boosting accesibility.
The idea for the integrated interface for sanitation services was germinated at the Gov2.in forum when Vidya Venkat of Gramvaani met Anita and Sanjay Bhargava of Let’s do it Delhi. The Bhargavas had set up the Facebook page for MCD earlier. After a discussion at a workshop at the event, Gramvaani and Let’s do it Delhi got together to work on developing the IVRS-FB interface for constituents of the civic agency.
