There are over 25 community radio (CR) stations in India running GRINS. GRINS provides these stations with crucial capabilities to air broadcast programs on radio and solicit feedback from listeners on phone. This improves information dissemination practices by helping station staff and knowledgeable experts to engage with community members in a conversational manner and guide them with examples.
As a proof of concept, we ran public information campaigns on the topics of NREGA, PDS, and RTE*. Under each theme, the participating stations produced short promotional programs about the topic and solicit stories and experience reports from communities.
The impact of these campaigns was far greater than expected, and has shown CR to be a viable, novel way to gain meaningful community inputs.
We recently concluded a series of information and data gathering campaigns across radio stations harnessing the power of the GRINS platform to connect CR stations. Read what we learnt from running these campaigns in the published Experience Document here
