Helping female migrant workers navigate workplaces and rights – and connect to their hometowns

admin 27 May 2021

The government’s Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana programme is working to skill rural youth, including young women, and 15% of our users from our recent survey also believe that getting a job in a city is the best way to improve household income.

But what awaits people who migrate once they reach the city? How do they navigate their rights at the workplace, and tackle being away from their families for the first time in their lives?

Tarang Vaani, an IVRS community created with Gram Tarang, encourages women from Odisha working in Bengaluru’s garment factories to share their experiences, learn about saving & workplace entitlements, connect with their hometowns by sharing songs & folktales.

We want to take this to more people by collaborating with organisations that engage migrant workers.
