Guiding young people on education and career pathways

In a bid to earn more, families are looking beyond agriculture. Some 62% of the people we surveyed believed that the best way to increase their household income was to get new skills to help in their present job, or through higher education for themselves or their children. Women in SHGs, especially, shared that their biggest concerns were their children’s education & career prospects.

Our ‘Guru Mantra’ program is part of a health & nutrition program for women in SHGs in Bihar with Project Concern International & Jeevika. It offers young people tips on studying & info on career paths. Interestingly, we found that running the Guru Mantra programme persuaded these women to use Mobile Vaani even more intensely for health and nutrition as well!

With more funds, we can add content on specific career prospects and on preparing for them.
