Volunteer and Intern Information Sheet

We have the following kind of openings after the dates indicated below:
1. Software development: Starting August 2008, we will begin working all-out on the software and technology to power our vision. We need experienced Java developers, user-interface specialists, Linux device driver hackers, and Perl scripting geniuses. Experience with audio streaming is a plus.
2. Blogging: Starting right away, we need help to popularize our blog and website. Your tasks will be to identify and invite experts in media and rural development to contribute articles, and to attract traffic from search engines and relevant websites. Good writing skills with knowledge of current affairs and social development are necessary.
3. Journalism: Starting September 2008, we need help from experienced journalists and media professionals to train and inspire the community radio staff of our collaborators. Your role will be to initiate processes to streamline local news collection, script writing, and delivery, and to come up with innovative ideas for community engagement in rural areas. Experience with radio programming is a plus.
4. Communications: Starting September 2008, we need people with good communication skills to coordinate information flow with governments, companies, and NGOs working on various areas for social development. Your tasks will to ensure the timely delivery of information to and from these entities. We will also train you in audio production to help record radio programs for community radio stations.
